Train for combat; not competition, with focused, hands-on private training sessions.
My Wing Chun is not about trophies:
What I teach is a combat art.
My knowledge was and is gained by standing on the shoulders of giants. Fortunately those giants never stopped fighting and therefore kept the art alive. Those practitioners who stop fighting and take the path of sanctioned competition, or focus only on drills, lose critical knowledge needed for real combat situations. Contrary to popular belief, "playing" chi sau will NOT save you from a mugger, a murderer, or an angry brawler on the street. Drills are not fighting, and rules will get you killed. [How can you say that about Chi Sau!? ]
What I do is not about trophies or sashes or selling magic pants that somehow make your gung fu better. Its about defeating the opponent as quickly and safely as possible and walking away to enjoy the rest of your life.

Why Private Wing Chun Lessons?
I do not teach group classes.
In a group setting, the teaching must be watered down and spread out to optimize the learning of the group average . I much prefer to devote my entire attention to one student at a time. This dramatically improves the transfer of knowledge and shortens the time required to produce a truly competent fighter. Every person differs in how they conceptualize ideas and assimilate knowledge. One-on-one instruction allows the teaching to be tailored to each student's individual strengths and weaknesses. It eliminates time wasted on drills that may be ineffective at improving your personal level of excellence, and time wasted learning techniques that will not work for your personal size/shape/strength/psychology.
